In its most
basic form, the key Voice system acts like a telephone receptionist. It
answers calls and transfers them to the appropriate extension, if that
extension should be busy or unanswered the system offers to take a message
or transfer to an alternative Extension.
These two functions, Automated attendant and voice mail features work
together to provide smooth call coverage at a voice processing system
site.
The Key Voice
system effectively processes call through its boxed concept design. A
box contains a set of instructions that dictates what the voice processing
system should do with the call it is handling.
These boxes
transfer calls to their associated extensions and store a message for
system subscribers. Each box can also be set up to forward calls to another
phone or extension number, deliver messages to another phone or pager,
play one of ten pre recorded messages to the callers, screen calls, queue
calls when the extension is busy, or record call conversations. In addition
